WHEN ORGANIZING…. SUCCESS IS ACHIEVED WHEN YOU HAVE USED UP ALL THE AVAILABLE SPACE EFFICIENTLY, AND WHAT YOU NEED IS ACCESSIBLE AND LASTLY, YOU CAN LOCATE ITEMS IN A FEW MINUTES!
Whether you have a small space or an over-sized house-? you have the same dilemma! They both are challenging for different reasons . The keys are being creative, re-purposing items, efficiency, and accessibility.? If these components are used, this will provide a sense of? success. Small spaces require more creativity and efficiency. Unlimited space can feel freeing and abundant Except when overstuffed. This requires discipline and requires setting limits on how much one acquires.
Here are some steps & tools to apply-
1)First look at the closet, cabinet, or space. Look at what’s working and not working
2) After you determine what’s not working and why, then you can start to get creative.
3.Empty the contents. Take an inventory of what you have.? Then group similar items together.
4. Include other house-mates in this chore. If they aren’t available then discuss these steps with them. Everyone has a different view of what is working, how something should be done, and how they view it. Also people have different habits which need to be taken into account.
5.Look for outdated ,expired, damaged, and unrepairable items, things you don’t use, items that you don’t like, items you don’t know what they are, and excess that you could donate to someone needy.
6. Start thinking outside the box, finding solutions by reusing, re-purposing, being creative with the space.
7. Containerize items to make it easier to access, making items readily available if used often.
8.LABEL-LABEL-LABEL!!!? Use the words, or pictures that make sense to all? in the home. Be aware of other people’s shortcomings and take this into account. Always discuss with others involved.
9. Be patient, with yourself and others if many changes have been made. It can take 21days to form new habits( per StevenCovey-author) Assess the space after some time. Life is in constant motion. Things change, you’re needs change, and organization should stay updated based on these factors. If so, you will feel at peace and have the time to do what you enjoy vs getting frustrated looking for something? and losing your valuable time!
10. If you get stuck, You can always call your Clutter-Angel….? Carole
So always remember this…….
